Tended (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a family medication reminder app operated by Clay Parrish. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Tended mobile app and web app.
When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes. We use a magic link (passwordless) sign-in system — we never collect or store passwords.
You provide medication names, dosage information, dose amounts, dosing schedules, and dose logs for members of your household. This data is stored securely and is only accessible to members of your household.
You may create a household and add people (family members, children, pets). You provide names and roles for these individuals. You may invite other users to join your household via share codes or invite links.
We store your notification preferences, including quiet hours settings, to deliver medication reminders at appropriate times.
We do not use your data for advertising, analytics profiling, or selling to third parties.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies that ensure you can only access data belonging to your household. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored using secure device storage (Secure Store on mobile).
When you are offline (or your device cannot reach our servers), the Tended mobile app may temporarily store dose logs locally on your device so they can be automatically synced when connectivity is restored. After a successful sync, these locally stored records are removed.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Dose history is retained to provide you with a complete medication log.
Tended is designed for use by adults aged 18 and older. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), if we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
Tended uses a caregiver model: adult account holders (parents, guardians, or other caregivers) manage medication schedules and dose logs for members of their household, including children. Children do not interact with the app directly. All child-related medication data is entered, viewed, and managed exclusively by adult caregivers within the household. The adult account holder is responsible for the accuracy of this data and for ensuring they have the authority to manage medication information for each household member.
You have the right to:
Tended stores medication schedules and adherence data, which we treat as health-related information subject to the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule. In the event of a breach of security involving your health-related data, we will notify you without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after discovery of the breach.
Notification will be sent to the email address associated with your account and will include:
Where required by law, we will also notify the Federal Trade Commission and, if the breach affects 500 or more people, prominent media outlets.
Because Tended collects and processes health-related data (medication schedules, dosages, and adherence logs), we comply with applicable state health privacy laws in addition to federal requirements.
If you are a Washington state resident, you have the right to: (a) know what health data we collect about you; (b) withdraw your consent to the collection and sharing of your health data at any time; (c) request deletion of your health data; and (d) be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We collect health data only with your consent, which you provide by entering medication information into the app. We do not sell or share your health data with third parties for commercial purposes. We do not engage in geofencing around health care facilities for the purpose of collecting health data or delivering advertisements.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information; and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information, including health data, for monetary or other valuable consideration. We do not use your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address listed below.
We are committed to complying with applicable state health and consumer privacy laws, including but not limited to those in Connecticut, Colorado, Virginia, and other states that have enacted comprehensive privacy legislation. If your state grants you additional rights regarding your health or personal data, we will honor those rights upon request.
Tended sends push notifications to remind you when medications are due. You can control notification permissions through your device settings at any time. We also send email reminders to active caregivers — you can disable these by toggling your caregiver status to inactive.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Tended after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
